Donation of $500 by Band begins fund raising for Shepard Park improvements

Members of the Lake George Community Band have donated a check for $500 to kick off our Lake George Village Bandstand fundraising event.


                The Village has received a $25,000 donation form the Charles R. Wood Foundation and a challenge for another $25,000 to be raised by June 1, 2017.

                The Village Board of Trustees has planned to upgrade the stage lighting system, add additional natural seating and create handicap access to the theater area. Slated to begin this spring, the work is estimated to cost $75,000-$85,000.


                The Lake George Community Band was organized during the Village’s Centennial celebration and has become a very visible band throughout the region performing several concerts annually and participating in several parades. Members volunteer their time and talents including organizing an annual Community Band Festival in Shepard Park.


                The band is slated to perform a “Concert for the Park” on Sunday, February 26 at 3:00pm at the Lake George High School with all funds donated to the amphitheater project.


                “The Lake George Community Band has become an integral part of our region and village over the past fifteen years and brought countless hours of enjoyment to residents and visitors of all ages, “Mayor Blais said.
