Body:

The grand opening event for the Charles R. Wood Park in Lake George Village has been scheduled for Wednesday, May 29 at 11:00am.

State, County and Local officials have been invited to attend the event to celebrate the completion of the public park, playground, skate park and treatment wetlands owned by Warren County and the Village of Lake George.

The 24-acre park was purchased from the Charles R. Wood Foundation by the Fund for Lake George, the Lake George Association, the Lake George Land Conservancy, the Town and Village of Lake George and Warren County some ten years ago. Subsequently, the Village of Lake George bought out the Town’s interest in the property.

Over the past several years, utilizing grant funding, the park has become one of the area’s top new attractions hosting several large events and allowing others to expand. The Festival Commons area is presently used by Americade, the Adirondack Nationals, a wine festival, circus and several others.

The ceremonies will include presentations by the owners, State and Local officials and the non-profit organizations. Musical selections will be played by the Lake George Community Band and a reception for invited guests will follow on site.

Tours of the park and wetlands will be provided following the ceremonies.

The public is invited to attend rain or shine.

Any questions contact Mayor Blais at 518-668-5771.
