The Lake George Student Connection kicked off their 2019 season with two highly successful welcome orientation programs for visiting international students.

Lake George Village’s Caldwell Presbyterian Church was busting at the seams with an overflow crowd of nearly 200 J-1 Visa students attending.  A total of 350 attended the two sessions, designed to acquaint the students with local facts, safety, volunteer services and each other.

Mayor Robert Blais welcomed students, stressing the importance of each being a good employee and ambassador of their country.  Members of the Greater Glens Falls Trolley System, Warren County Sheriff, Warren County Bicycle Committee and local EMS services also attended.

Over 50 bicycles were raffled off, along with back packs to everyone filled with bike lights, water bottles, LG Student Connection handbooks and more.

Every session includes food and desserts, along with announcements of monthly dinners served at local churches.  A spaghetti dinner was held on June 19th at Sacred Heart Church attended by over 100 students.

The Student Connection Hospitality Committee, charged by Howard Nicol, organizes each session and is comprised of members from all the local churches as well as representatives from Bolton, Queensbury, and Lake George.

This is the third year of operation for the Student Connection, serving over 1,500 international students working in the resort area.  The committee is founded by the Towns of Queensbury, Bolton and Lake George and administered by the Village of Lake George.
