A record number of anglers are expected to compete this weekend in the 4th Annual King George Fishing Derby.
Tournament officials report an early registration ahead of last years by more than 10%. Early entries are guaranteed a souvenir t-shirt.
All fisherman, adults and juniors, register this Friday between 4-8pm at the Lake George American Legion on US Route 9L.
Competition begins at 6am on Saturday as well as Sunday, ending at 2pm on Sunday.
There are four categories including four species: Lake Trout, Landlocked Salmon, Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass.
Anglers bring their catch to two weigh stations located at Rogerís Memorial Park in Bolton and the Lake George Village public docks.
An awards ceremony is scheduled for Sunday at 4:00pm at the American Legion. Over $15,000 is awarded in prize money, with prize money, with Junior Anglers receiving merchandise prizes.
Net proceeds are donated to the Fund for Lake George according to Mayor Robert Blais and Jeff Johnson, Derby co-chair.
