Anglers from four states competed for top prizes in this year’s record turnout of the King George Fishing Derby.
Brian Henry’s 13.47lb Lake Trout topped all competitors, caught only 1½ hours into the tournament start. Henry of Saratoga Springs, NY took away top prize in his division of $2,000.
Over 185 fishermen in 90 boats competed in the two-day event culminating in an awards ceremony held at the Lake George American Legion. Dan Ladd, local newspaper fish and game columnist, presented the awards.
Other winter were Largemouth Bass at 5.8lbs Bradley Holmes, Hudson Falls, NY; Smallmouth Bass at 4.4lbs Bernie Lindo, Newton, NJ and Landlocked Salmon at 6.01lbs Christian Rose, Duanesburg, NY in the Adult Division.
Junior winners were: Christian Taylor, Goshen, NY with a Largemouth Bass 5.65lbs, Sarah Musto, Lake George, NY with Smallmouth Bass 2.86lbs and Dylan Palmer, Merrick NY with Lake Trout 6.58lbs.
All proceeds from the Derby benefit the Fund for Lake George. Next year’s event is scheduled for September 19-20, 2020.
